Long term I plan to get a front end/full body respray, but in the short term, how can I prepare stonechips for touch up that have gone rusty?

I've got one of the touch up pen sets which come with primer, paint and lacquer but I'd like to clean out the littled rusted patches first before applying the primer.

I've read that there's some sort of metal pen that can be used to clean this up, is that right?

Any advice appreciated! Just want to touch up and make look ok/prevent getting worse before a respray later down the line.

Thanks

Just use some rust inhibitor like kurust, then use the touch up pen

You can buy a little glass fibre nibbed pen for removing some of the rust before using krust or similar to stabilise the remaining. Then touch up as normal.

Thanks both! Is Kurust applied in the same way as the touch up? i.e. just a small amount on the area before then applying primer and paint?

Yeah, it's really thin so it sits in the chip quite well.

Apply it with something like a cocktail stick as it can be messy, i think its better a thin layer is applied too so it works properly.
Never worked for me personally and the rust has come back through but that was Kurust.
