Just noticed some horrible marks in my paintwork. Never seen anything like this before. Area is in skirt below headlight, but doesn’t look like paint has been broken.

Any ideas ?

Brutal stone chips (and dead insects for the red bits, but I'm guessing you're mostly worried about the craters). Possibly someone has sprayed over it in an attempt to hide the chips.

Still a mystery to me, but how on earth would you get so many stone chips in one place?

I think this is a case of "good from far, far from good".

Or maybe a respray over a heavily stone chipped bumper and they missed that section when prepping.
