Repairing plastic tabs to interior panels
Discussion
Hello People,
I offered to help a friend do a custom interior on his car and the long story short is that he purchased a separate door cards as he needed some parts from them and didnt want to reskin his oem encase he decides to go back.
So he surfed ebay and found a pair that had already been 'stripped' down as such so it was easy to get the panel reupholstered etc.
Anyway, we've been removing his oem panel with care and leaving longer tabs on the back but whoever stripped down the original door card seems to have cut it shorter than we have and so the tabs dont poke through the slots, even the bits that was circular and had plastic 'donuts' where shorter than our effort:
You can see the oem welds at the top on the slots and what prevents the panel from being loose.
This one isnt too bad as the tab pokes through slightly.
My question to the more knowledgeable is how would you fix these tabs into place. We can apply weight as such to rbing the panels closer together but i dont think a plastic weld via those strips would hold (would they) or would you go down the JB Weld/Araldite Route?
Thanks
