hi, so a colleague of mine has just hit my parked car in staff car park, she's admitted it and said she will go through insurance...said oh yes fine no worries ,,but now I've been thinking the damage is just a minor dent. Am I missing anything , as she's admitted liability and is insured should I just let the insurance guys do there job and let it go to main dealer ???

Or if all they will do is respray it ( its a 13k motor) should I just give her the option of not going through insurance and letting one of the local decent garages fix it , assume it cant be that expensive , that way she keeps her NCD...

any thoughts

Nice attitude thumbup ...always worth exploring the alternatives, and it sounds on the face of it that this could be sorted amicably... treat people how you'd like to be treated is a good maxim.

As above, nice attitude, thank you!

I would vote to ask her to get it fixed privately - or if she insists on insurance get a burner phone. Colleague's wife was in the middle of a shop when someone drove into her car - 5 years later he was still getting 3 calls a week offering compensation...

Definitely worth exploring a local place and not involving the insurance co.

It shouldn't, but it will affect your insurance as you will have to answer "yes" to "Have you been involved in an insurance claim in the last 12m?"

There are sooooo many posts that pop up on PH that are basically : minor accident, other party admitted fault, agreed to fix without involving insurance, now they've seen the quote / now the car is fixed etc they've changed their story......

I'd be using the insurance.
