Hi there

Wasn't sure where to put this so hopefully this is in the right place!

Has anyone tried cheap sound deadening? I was thinking about doing my sheddy Peugeot 106 when the weather gets better and reinstall some carpets (removed due to sunroof leak!)

Not wanting to spend the money that dynamat commands, I was wondering about cheaper options.

Anyone tried the eBay specials and if so what is it like?

Any products somewhere between dynamat and eBay?

Cheers
Jim

I used Dodo Mat DEADN Hex for my van. It reduced sound and didn't come unstuck (been there a few years) but I can't compare to dynamat.

Sound Service in Witney (Oxford) have some good stuff.
You need it half-inch thick.

Cheap stuff off Ebay I found no good if it's 2 mm thick!

But the dodo stuff is only 1.8mm thick but seems good?

have a read of this: https://www.deadening.co.uk/pages/advice

Ideally you need at least two layers. The thin stuff to stop vibration then something thicker to absorb airborn sound.

On my van it has squares of the thin stuff, then a layer of closed cell foam in critical areas (like the wheel arches) then wadding behind plywood on the walls and roof.

What he said ^^

The thin heavy stuff goes on first to stop resonance (I also used Dodo Deadn) - this does not need to be full coverage, just squares on each panel.

Then closed foam thick stuff on top, it must be closed foam to stop it holding moisture (condensation).
