It would help to know what the car is, it's age, mileage, estimated value, etc

Got to be close to write off levels on that at insurance bodyshop prices.

If you don't want it written off you could get it repaired privately for possibly half that cost. Depends on circumstances - was it an at fault accident where no one else was involved? If others involved then insurance is the only way and what will be will be.

Really depends on how much damage has been done underneath, if it's just the door then you might be okay, any damage to chassis or shell and it might be curtains. Did the airbags deploy?

You will almost certainly have a shortfall in price between insurance payout and finance if they do write it off so GAP would have been a good idea.

should just be a replacement door and paint that and the 2 adjoining panels.

I would say around 2k plus the cost of the door to do the work

That's impossible to say without actually inspecting it. Hopefully that's all it is but there could be structural damage that makes it economically unviable.

I speak from experience, a couple of years ago my own Qashqai was rear ended. The damage looked cosmetic but an inspection showed that the chassis and other structural parts had been bent. The repair bill was quoted at 15+k, the insurance company wrote it off.

I own a bodyshop and Im fairly certain the way a door folds that is cosmetic damage

So had an update its estimate of around £6000! I’m quite worried all I know at moment as they’re waiting for 3rd party insurance to accept it and their engineer to approve …would this likely be written off now?

Is that a 6k repair plus hire car plus other costs, or 6k all in?

It's a write off.
