Ceramic Coating of interior Leather
Discussion
Hi all,
I am having the paint on my new Porsche Cayman GTS Ceramic coated in a couple of weeks time. I am also considering having the interior leather ceramic coated at the same time.
Does anyone have experience or expert knowledge about ceramic coating of the leather. I don't need thoughts and advice on ceramic coating the outside paintwork as there is soooo much info and opinions on that already available. But, I have read very little about coating the leather.
Thanks for any input
Phil.

Having a leather guard/protector applied is better than having no coating.
All of the usual brands have their own version - Gtechniq, Gyeon, Carpro etc.
Do they work? - having trialled a couple a few years ago on a car with a 'white' interior, specifically 1/2 the drivers seat bolster which is very much a high traffic area - yes they do, both the uncoated and coated areas picked up dirt and some dye transfer from jeans but the coated area was less 'blue' and it was also much, much easier to clean and get back to as it left the factory when new.
The uncoated area still cleaned up fine but just took more effort.
I can't comment on the effect a coating may have on the long-term benefits in terms of surface wear.
I would suggest durability of the coating would be between 6-12mths depending on car usage.
Cheers,
Chris

Guessing it is this stuff:

Would love to see a datasheet for it and understand the contents. Seems like they are riding on the ceramic marketing term.
