Hi all!

I have my 1992 Mazda Eunos on a rollover jig / rotisserie in the garage.

I spend about an hour a night making slow progress with a wire wheel taking everything back to bare metal and treating any little patches of pitting from surface rust as I go.

My question is... with it realistically going to take my month's before I'm ready to spray / re seal the underside, what do people typically put on the bare metal that I could do quick and easy on each patch as I go each night?

The garage is dry inside - is it the end of the world to leave bare metal for a prolong period if its showing no signs of rusting?

Tia!

I’m welding rust repairs on a car at the moment, when I finish an area it gets a quick squirt of Halfords grey primer. When I’m ready I’ll strip the lot and do the proper finishes

Haven’t had any issue with surface rust on the sprayed areas, and because it’s just primer it comes off really easy with the wire wheel

Bilt hamber hydrate-80 or their electrox zinc rich primer if you want something easier to apply but slightly
Less substantial as a base layer.

I'm after something quick that is temporary ideally and easy to come off when I come to finally fully prep & cover with whatever product I use at the end.

Each night I don't want to put something on that I have to fully prep the area for paint if that makes sense, I just want to seal it till I'm ready smile

In that case you could do worse than the electrox. It’s just primer with a decent amount of zinc in it. It shouldn’t be too hard to remove and will keep things tidy in the meantime.

Some oil brushed on will help.
I'd probably paint a section as i was doing it, Rustoleum combicolour is a very good paint.
