Basic machine polish recommendation…
Discussion
I’m looking to buy a beginners d/a type polisher together with pads and a few compounds to allow me to do the occasional “swirl removal” on two metallic blue cars. Every time I look into buying something it seems there is just so much confusing choice - mostly Aimee I guess in fairness at professional users.
Plenty of kits to choose from here:

Jump on detailingworld and see if there are any local meets doing show and tell on how to polish or watch some youtube videos to help. Can't do much damage with a DA unless you go too quick near crease lines or panel gaps so make sure you tape up properly.

The DAS6 Pro is an excellent machine although there won't ge a huge amount of difference in other models.
The Menzerna compound packages from above would be a good shout but they seem to be out of stock at the moment.
Scholl S20 black is another very good product.
I agree. The DAS8 is also very good. The Menzerna compound packages from above would be a good shout but they seem to be out of stock at the moment.

You can't go wrong with Scholl S20 as an initial one step polish.
I've had a Das6 for years and does the job, if I upgraded it would help with a bit more W.
You can go for higher end stuff but not sure with the amount you will do its worth it.
Big amount of influence is down to prep, pads and compounds. (always clean the pads every time you use them). Paint type also needs consideration as you get harder paints in say German cars than Japmobiles.
I've experimented on my last work with a mixture of compounds and they all have different sweet spots.
Forensicdetailing on Youtube is my goto man for reviews.

Thanks for the advice. I’m just long for something very user (and beginner) friendly to remove basic swirls from the paint.
It's not as easy as just buying the machine, some forums will say "get a test panel" but if you use your experience of using tools and understanding how compounds work you won't naff up clear coat as much as made out.Go low end mate if it's just a bit of DIY, once you see before/after though it might start getting expensive
I just use my DA Makita sander! Obviously it gets a thorough clean beforehand, but if you already have one then they are perfect.
A few of the Lakeland pads and some fine compound, or just use a slightly abrasive polish (Turtlewax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish & Wax is a great starter) and you're away.
It's not a process you should be doing regularly, so unless you own a small fleet I'm not sure there's much point in spending big on a DA polisher. They are nothing special, but the price gets ramped up because it's for "detailing".

Thanks for the info, I’m guessing I’ll probably polish the cars once or maybe twice a year (I’ve got three cars)
I don’t own a DA sander so I’d need to buy something but as indicated I’m only looking to do some basic swirl Remival and “enhancement” I don’t want anything powerful or for advanced users just a DA polisher and maybe one or two pads suitable for swirl removal and of course some suitable polish.

This is what I bought a couple of years ago, never regretted it. My mate has the Meguirs one and this is far better, 900w motorI don’t own a DA sander so I’d need to buy something but as indicated I’m only looking to do some basic swirl Remival and “enhancement” I don’t want anything powerful or for advanced users just a DA polisher and maybe one or two pads suitable for swirl removal and of course some suitable polish.
