Hi all, long time lurker.

I'm looking at buying an Audi a4 Avant 2017 from a relative at a good price (he's offering it to me for WBAC price), but I noticed it's got this paint damage on the sills. Left sill rear shows chunks of the thick stonechip paint missing, Right rear sill looks like some sort of split in the stonechip.?
I'm not bad on mechanics but clueless with paint. Is this a DIY job, or paintshop?
Any idea how much it would cost to get a good repair done? Wanting to keep the car a few years, so worried about rust. Never spent this much on a car before, but it's a good deal in the current climate.
Thanks!

not sure what the issue is here?

If its a 2017 car, I doubt it will have any rot underneath if thats your concern?

Thoroughly clean it - solvent such as panel wipe or thinners.
Rattle can of stone chip protect. White preferable as that's the car colour.
Rattle can of the colour of the car.
Mask as necessary.
Follow the instructions on the cans.
Job done.

Awesome, thanks. Maybe I was over thinking it. I guess you'd pick away at the loose stuff and get back to solid before rattle canning.

Looks like a Halfords type monkey has stuck a trolley jack there.

You want something durable but it's quite an easy area to deal with as you can mask a line further up without it showing too much.

Any suggestions on brand for stone guard? I guess brush would be easiest to work into the holes? Sorry, total noob when it comes to paint.

They are all pretty simar but something from Tetrosyl or Hammerite will be ok.
Brush on can be a little trickier to buy as most are aerosol or in a schutz type container.
