Rattle can bumper
Discussion
New run about I bought at the weekend has a patch on the bumper where the paint has fallen off.
Don’t want to do anything professional, just colour it to make it a bit easier on the eye. Don’t care about the finish really as it’s quite a flat white colour all over (not metallic or anything)
What’s the best way to spray this on the cheap?
What grades shall I rub it down with?
How many coats of what?
Shall I just rub down that area and primer that area before spraying and clear coating with rattle cans?
Any advice please, thanks!

800 wet to smooth the edges and key the area around it
primer it- do not prime onto unkeyyed paint
800 the primer until smooth and edges feathered , 1200 and /or grey scotch pad the area beyond where you want to finish the paint edge
get a can of blending thinner to dust over the dry edge where you finish ...makes for much nicer job

Blending thinner? Not heard of that, at which stage to you apply that and how? Is it a spray?

So just to confirm the steps: does this seem about right?
- 800(wet) the area
- primer
- 800(dry) the primer
-1200(dry)
-colour coat
-lacquer
How many coats is best for primer, paint, lacquer?
How long should I leave between primer/paint and paint/lacquer and lacquer/blending thinner?
id go wet for all stages . warm water with some dish soap added- 800(wet) the area
- primer
- 800(dry) the primer
-1200(dry)
-colour coat
-lacquer

2-3 coats of primer - best if you can find white
colour until covered , most likley 2-3 coats
2-3 clear coat , straight on with the blend ...mist only it can run very easily
try and do it somewhere warm or at least warm the panel with a hair dryer between coats , at average temps you would be waiting 15-20 mins between coats
dont mask a hard edge around it ...just cover the bonnet /any grilles ,badges etc
