I'm looking for some advice on how to remove factory ceramic coating off some exhaust pipe tips.

I'd like to buff or sand off the coating so I can polish the stainless exhaust tips leaving them nice and shiny but the finish is rock-hard. Is this possible and how's best to tackle it?

Thanks

It won't be a simple ceramic coating if it's rock hard, especialy with the heat from an exhaust.

It is more likely a laquer or similar sprayed on coating that has been applied to make them easier to clean.

Oh it’s not a wax polish type ceramic coating, it’s a zircotec type plasma-sprayed exhaust coating and buffing with wet&dry hasn’t even scuffed it frown

Sounds like it's doing its job well.

Probably worth asking the manufacturer how it could be removed, guessing it will require some hefty mechanical process which may damage the underlying metal anyway.
