Advice needed on paint correction and stealth wrap
Discussion
I recently purchased a used car a few years old which has a solid black colour. The paintwork is far from perfect with a few careless scuffs which I don't believe has gone that deep (possibly just into the clear coat only).
I'm not wanting the car to have a permanent show room type finish but I do want the car to look reasonably good. My thinking is that I could get a Xpel stealth PPF wrap which would help with:
1. Hiding some of the paintwork imperfections
2. Provide some self healing properties to avoid minor damage in future
3. Give it a fresh new look
4. Allow me to easily wash the car at home without worrying too much about swirl marks (obviously, using reasonable common sense when hand washing, micro fibre wash mitts, 2 bucket method, grit guard etc).
My questions are:
1. Will the current paintwork imperfections need to be fully corrected before putting on a stealth wrap? Or will the wrap hide some of this?
2. If it does need some kind of paint correction, how much should I budget for this the paint correction part?
3. Will a gloss PPF wrap show more of the imperfections than the stealth?
The other thing is, I don't currently have the budget for the PPF wrap right now. It could be up to a year before I can purchase this. Will the year of unprotected usage of the car bring the condition of the paintwork to the point where a paint correction can no longer help?

The wrap will hide paint defects such as swirls obviously but it won’t hide anything where there is a variation in level such as stone chips or deeper scratches. Applying a wrap over those often looks better initially but will eventually start to show them through.
If it were me I would probably pay someone to sort the scratches and polish the car up properly. Probably be cheaper than the wrap and easier to look after in the long run.
