4 Wheel alignment - Sheffield

Steve
I tried a few places in Sheffield and they didn't want to touch my TVR, send Joolz a email at Here he may be able to help, he is only at bottom of the Dronfield by-pass, or phone RT racing in Sheffield and Richard may be able to help out.

Did you go to the BBWF? Chris the CofG man did an excellent demo there and can travel the length of the country. I've got his card. Let me know if you want me to dig it out.
Yup I was there, only on the Saturday though.Watched chris setting up Dickys car..looked pretty good, but how much?

Cheers, I might nip in and see Richard tomorrow AM, I've been meaning to go in and let him give the car the once over, I just know he's going to find lots for me to spend the kids' inheritence on though

Just spoke to Richard Thorpe. I'm booked in for Friday, for a full laser alignment.
Interestingly he asked me which bushes I'm replaced with Poly (ARB mount,ARB drop link and tie bar do-nuts). He said that was about right (He wouldn't usually do the ARB mounts in poly) and it was a good job that I hadn't done the wishbones, as they're metalistic on a TVR, and poly is actually a downgrade).
Leo I've sprayed the trackrod end adjusters, the tie bar adjusters, the rear leadin link adjusters, and the rear wishbone toe-in adjusters with releasing fluid.
I'm going to leave it a few days then spray them again, and wind them in / out to free them up. Then spray them again!
Richard reckons 2-3 hours tops for the setup.

The adjusters for rear toe (38mm/1.5inch IIRC) on Dickys car didn't budge even with Chris hanging on them or giving them a whack with a lump hammer! His, yours, and mine are probably all the same... never moved since they were assembled in the factory! Expect some serious fun trying to shift them! Copious soaking/re-soaking in WD40, heating with a blowtorch and welting it with a hammer whilst using a long bit of scaffold pole might all be in order!
Best of luck and let us know how you get on. I would be interested to see a copy of the before and after measurements please.

Hmm, you're right about the toe adjusters. Richard called me tosay that they were solid (even after 5 days of repeated WD40 baths!) he reckons 3 hrs labour just to sort them. I didn't have time today, so he just set the front up for now as near as dammit.....
Only charged me an hours labour, and the car feels much better, more positive under braking, truer when cornering.
He did say the rear toe-in was about 8mm!, so I need to find some time (4 hours!) for him to sort it.
I will definately be going back to RT , very friendly, and obviously knows his stuff
I've just got back from holiday.
RT is well respected on here. I have only dealt with them by mail order in their Wedge Automotive days but they provided a friendly and helpful service.
I would think the quickest/cheapest method to free off the rear toe adjusters would be to remove the wishbones and take them to someone who can play a bit of heat on them in order to crack the corrosion.
8mm toe-in sounds massive! Are you getting uneven wear at the back?
Did he comment upon the rear camber at all?
