Rear shock rebuild?
Discussion
Does anybody know of a place I could get my rear shocks rebuilt. I have been on the internet today but lots of the places will only rebuild their own shocks or only do motorbike shocks. The ones I have are imported K-Sport ones from America and while I wait for the price of replacements I hoped I could get a company and price for a rebuild of them instead. Does anybody know of any such places?
Many thanks

I rang K-Tec today as they are around 40mins from me but they would not do them, they only do bike shocks so I was told on the phone.
I rang Gaz Supension also but they only would want rebuild their own shocks.
I did see Bilstein but thought they would be the same answer as Gaz but maybe worth a try?
Thanks for the reply

Just out of pure interest. Are these special shocks or from a special car? Many thanks

Certainly not a special car…2008 Golf R32Apparently the suspension is K-Sport, a US company who do brakes as well etc. Not particularly special but apparently they were £1500 new so not super cheap.
Torqen say they are the authorised distributor of Ksport in UK / Europe. Would they know?

Would a Bilstein or similar offer a decent replacement rather than try and get those rebuilt?
You can try https://www.bgmotorsport.co.uk/suspension/
Their website is fairly poor, as they simply don't need it, as everyone in motorsport know of them. They're not the sort of people to be selling a coilover kit for a Corsa, F3 car full suspension rebuild, then they are your contact.
They might be a bit overkill for what you want, but you can give them a try.

R32 is a nice car in fairness!

I’m sure they would, but I’m not sure about having 2 different brands on the car or how it would affect a re-sale or the actual handling. I don’t put the K-Sports on so unsure of springs rates or damping etc. And it’s only actually one rear damper that’s squeaking so I’m not looking into changing the whole kit right now.Would a Bilstein or similar offer a decent replacement rather than try and get those rebuilt?

Many thanks for this, it’s another one to try when I’m home later…thank you Their website is fairly poor, as they simply don't need it, as everyone in motorsport know of them. You mentioned rebuilding the rear dampers in the original post. Given the apparent age and condition, if you rebuild any you need to rebuild all four. Dampers gradually degrade over time, and having freshly built dampers mixed with old worn-out ones will screw the handling up. The same goes if you decide to replace instead of rebuild - you must replace all four as a set.GreenV8S said:

Completely agree with this, try and get a main dealer to agree this, after a warranty claim on a single damper issue. They will never replace more than the faulty one, that was even on an RS5, I am aware of
