Hi all,

Loving our BMW i3s but the rear tyres tread depth is getting low so I'm looking for replacements.

As many know the only tyre that fits in the OEM 20" size is the Bridgestone Ecopia E500 (195/50/20) but some people have suggested the Michelin Primacy or CrossClimate in 195/55/20.

I've not found any feedback from anyone actually doing this, and would a different tyre size impact insurance if we had an accident?

TIA

Best thing is to ring the insurance company and ask. Most insurers will accept any tyre size listed by the manufacturer for the car type.

The main reason folks go for 195/55 is to save money. Personally, I think they look a little odd with the larger tyre diameter.
There's lots of debate around it on the facebook members group, so I'd be doing a search there to get the full picture.

BMW only spec 175/55/20 (front) and 195/50/20 (rear) for the i3s so there really is no choice apart from the Bridgestones if you stick to the OEM sizes.

The Potenza is a summer tyre

I guess we'll have to stick with Ecopias as we plan to use the car all year round!

So are the Bridgestones.

You're right frown, both Bridgestones are rated as summer tyres - given the tiny differences I guess we'll stick with the Ecopia
