Advisory on MOT, parts replaced last MOT, usual?
Discussion
Mk4 golf 2001 130pd
Bought last year and lower arms, track rod ends and arb bushes replaced with new, this mot after 10k miles it's showing a advisory on front suspension
Nearside Front Sub-frame pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Is this usual? It was brand new parts from the local large car spares place, so good turnaround and not sitting on the shelf for years

Not unheard. There is a lot of s
t in the aftermarket these days. There's been a big drive over the last decade to 'drive costs down'. Guess who that benefits? Any idea what brand of parts were used? Do you still have the invoice?
Pretty much, a lot of parts are just junk.
If you want longevity, at least actual OEM parts do tend to be decent, albeit more pricey.

Are you sure the problem relates to the parts you replaced? The advisory mentions sub-frame pins/bushings, which are not in the parts you listed.
^^^^ Wot 'e said.Definitely doesn't sound like what you did last year.
FWIW in general if I see any suspension bush type failure, more often than not I have just bitten the bullet & done a full suspension refresh if the car is "a keeper".

This, replaced a lower ball joint on my previous shed at 14 years old with a cheapish but well known brand. Two years later it failed the MOT on the same part.If you want longevity, at least actual OEM parts do tend to be decent, albeit more pricey.
Just not worth it in my experience
