Strange noise when braking

Over the past week or so I've noticed a weird noise when gradually braking at the end of a motorway/ dual carriageway.

My car is a 2019 Toyota Yaris Hybrid and I've had it a couple of years now.

If the noise you are referring to is the slight "whine" that decreases with speed I would say it is the regenerative braking taking effect.

As said (and also on Toyota forums), mostly likely regenerative motor braking. On another associated issue, don’t use regenerative braking without occasional heavy stops on the hydraulic brakes, say once a month. With little use of the brake discs, and damp and salt, the disks rust up easily, and require a ‘cleaning up’ by some heavy braking, say 60 down to 20, but never to a stop - make sure the road is safe to brake hard on and no one is close behind. If discs are not used regularly on any car they will rust up, and brake judder and ultimately disc and pad replacement will be needed.

I'm not referring to the whine of the regenerative braking but the weird squeaks just as I'm coming to a stop. Beginning of the first clip and 0:05 on the second clip.

Try it again without using the indicators.

Interesting, do you think it is related to the indicators or are they making it hard to hear?

I can hear a few clicks that sound like an indicator relay - is that what you're referring to? I can hear the whine of regenerative braking too. I can't make out any other unusual noises.

If that's not it, can you get a clearer recording?

Potentially both in those clips.

Either way it is clearly the first step as it is common to both.

I can't hear anything there like what you're describing. You probably need to get somebody with some mechanical experience to sit with you and hear it for themselves.
