I have an e39 m5 that is only used as a weekend car and as such, the annual mileage is low.
I put a brand new set of PS4s tyres on it about 4.5 years ago. These have done less than 1000 miles, but noticed that the shoulder edge of them in starting to show cracks.
Anyone else seen this on theirs? I will replace them, but wondered if it was worth putting a claim in to Michelin??

I don’t think you’ll get much joy from Michelin. BMW recommend tyres are changed when 6 years old. Yours are from 2019.

It is primarily caused by UV degradation AFAIK, on my motorhome I use wheel/tyre covers whenever it is not going to move for a few days.

If it is a weekend only car, could you not do the same?

When not in use, the car is kept in a car port with a fitted indoor car cover which covers the wheels/tyres, so was assuming not uv damage?
Spoke to Michelin customer services who stated that the age limit for tyres would be around 10 years, but accept that being premium grip summer tyres, it would probably be less.
At this rate, cost of tyres alone looks like it will be around £1 per mile for the m5 now lol
