I've always stuck with the likes of Pirelli for tyres and have often heard the expression "Nankang Ditch-Finders" ,

But as i approach needing to buy two new tyres, I see that Nankang and Kumho both seem to have good ratings these days (And i don't plan on keeping this vehicle much longer so keeping budget in mind)

Are they actually any good? Going on a 4x4 not a performance car.

Is one better than the other or are they much the same?

Be interested to hear if anyone has experience with the Nankang SP-9 or the Kumho PS71

Thanks!

Kumho’s aren’t ditch finders. Their retail tyres are mid market. They are fitted as OE to Mercedes Benz, Renault, BMW etc. I presume these are made to spec. Like all Korean automotive brands, they have come a long way these days.

Haven’t heard of anyone fitting Nankangs as OE. However, Tyre reviews is a trusted resource, they say Nankang is a mid market brand now.

I would still go with Kumho, because of the OE angle.

Not sure where you are selling, but a car with the same tyre on all 4 axles would be a positive buying point for me. Would tell me the owner cares about maintenance too. Guess that might matter if going for a private sale.

Personally, I would go Kumho of those 2, they are a good solid performer that can compete with some of the big boys.
