Are these tyres legal?
Discussion
I've got 2 front tyres in the same condition as in picture below - not sure what happened to them. I used to drive 8k/year a few years ago but now only drive 600 miles a year and they still got about 1mm tread left, which would last me another 3-4 years, but not sure if they are still legal or not. They have got the same issue on both offside and near side.

100% nope and 3 points per tyre for your trouble if you get a pull and the cop is feeling kind. Dangerous condition and a PG9 if he isn't !!
Didn't realise it's so serious.. :-(snuffy said:
They do have 1mm of tread left, how much more would you need?
I meant ~1mm above the 1.6mm minimum!cerb4.5lee said:
I hope he is, because I wouldn't fancy using those for the next 3 to 4 years for sure.
I only drive 600 miles a year so approx 1mm (above the legal minimum) would be 3-4 years more for me. They are premium Dunlop tyres so wanted to squeeze out all the value from them.anyoldcardave said:
Has your car got an Mot lol,
Has to be a wind up, no one, just no one, would want to drive on those tyres.
Yes, car passed MoT around 6 months ago, the tyres were picked up but the cords weren't showing at all so this all happened in the last 6 months or so. The other front tyre has got around 3mm and it looks like it is following the same pattern (excessive cracking/abrasion on both edges of the tyre) but not sure why it's happening. Tyres date code is 2017 and they were inflated to 32 PSI as per manufacturer. The centre of all 4 tyres seem to be wearing less than the edges. Are the tyres underinflated or what....???? Has to be a wind up, no one, just no one, would want to drive on those tyres.

Yes, they tyres could be under inflated with that wear pattern, how are you checking the 32psi as your gauge could be inaccurate.Gassing Station | Suspension, Brakes & Tyres | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
