Bit fed up. Bought 2 new Bridgestone tyres 2 years ago. Still plenty of tread on them, but there are cracks developing in the tread between every block. The supplier I bought from, despite offering a "lifetime warranty" against manufacturing defects, and despite admitting that the recommendation should be to change these tyres, is unwilling to offer any refund, full or partial for this apparently early failure of the tyres. Here's a picture:

What does the panel think? Do I have a case, or suck it up buttercup?

I've instructed the tyre centre to replace with Michelin Cross Climates. Never buying Bridgestone again.

The tyres are date stamped first half of 2022.

As with the countless other threads on the same topic.

It's commonplace with modern tyres. C'est la vie kinda thing.

None are immune to it. No doubt some sort of modern environmental rules around materials and manufacture lead to the problem, that then creates more waste than it ever solves.

Bridgestone and Michelin seem to be the worst for this from first hand experience and that of my MoT tester

I have a set of ps4s Michelin on the CSL that are 5 years old and have cracked extensively. Annoying as they will have around 6mm left.
Need to book a drift day or similar to finish them off.

Oh OK. I've got 3 year old Michelins on my other car which don't have a single crack or other sign of deterioration on them, which is why I was annoyed at these Bridgestone ones looking like they're falling apart at 2 years old. 5 years I can accept, but not 2 years.

I guess I just bend over and suck it up then, if you'll excuse the unpleasant imagery.

I've found avon to be terrible for this. Kumho's showing no sign yet, on the same car.

My old car, michelin's ended up cracking and I got a partial refund from a popular online purveyor of very very very dark blue circles, on the basis that they should last 5 years, but mine were badly cracked at 3 years, so 40% refund iirc.

Edit i couldn't have got it more wrong - they were eagle F1's, so Goodyear, and i got 20% back based on 2 years expected life, as per them they said:

"After reviewing your claim I am pleased to say that based on the information provided we are able to get this amended for you. Due to the tyre tread depth available, we are able to credit you with 20% of the tyre value given the average life of a tyre (two years). "

That's fair enough. I asked my retailer for some consideration rather than a full refund, but he's digging his heels in. Perhaps I should press them again when I go to collect the car, before I pay the bill.

Updated my post above, just in case you don't see it. I still think it was reasonable of them. I put it as a credit toward new tyres.

Thanks, does sound like a fair result. Did you have to have the tyres sent to the manufacturer to get this?

no, just photos sent by email to the supplier/retailer.

If there's a warranty of some sort offered and the retailer has no i intention of honouring it, then they would never see another penny of my hard earned and might be inclined to leave a suitable truthful report on Trustpilot.

Noticed the Yoko all season AT's on my Landcruiser have started to develop very small cracks in the treads, 6 years old i think now, should get another couple of years out of them at least, would have the same again.
Falken summers on the Forester are 4 or 5 years now and no signs of any perishing, down to between 3 and 4 mm now won't have them again as only 7mm new, Cooper Winter set must be 10 years old at least (kept in dark cool garage fully inflated on dedicated wheels), still have 7mm tread and still in perfect condition.
