Car is an 04 Impreza, 6 - 7k pa urban 20%/ B road 10% / A road 70% - no track days, driven gently most of the time.

According to Blackcircles there's £7 per corner difference, which is peanuts.but I'll do a more thorough search if I get any opinions.

Does anyone have any experience of the Conti's because I'm erring towards a set of 4, but I've heard some smashing reports about the Assy 5's from some BMW lads who swear by them.

I prefer wet weather performance as it's often bloody raining anyway, winter performance not an issue.

TIA for any replies.

Cheers.

These suggest the Assys are slightly better in the wet.

Best source of info for ANY tyre questions by far & Jon is a PHer.

Why the Assy 5 and not the 6?

It was the price point, you're correct, but I've just found assy 6's on Protyre cheaper than the 5's and the sport contacts that were on Blackcircles (Blackcircles didn't list the assy 6's either).

Protyre are coming in at £365.12 fitted (£20 off voucher for Bank holiday!). I think for a set of 4 Assy 6's that's a damn good deal so I'm getting booked in for next week.

Thanks for the replies gents. smile

I recently put Continental Premium 6/7 on one of my cars ( 7's not available in both sizes ), and first hillclimb I've done, in the wet, have to say I'm very impressed by them.

Less than 0.5s off the fastest car in my class, and they were on racing tyres. Mine just bog standard road legal tyres and came 2nd. And I was being pretty conservative, especially with the braking as it was first time using the car hard

Used to have Assy 5 on, but recently put a full set of Assy 6 on and I've been very impressed with them, haven't broke grip yet and traction from a standstill is excellent. I got a 15% off deal through National Tyres, so ended up at about £125 a corner for 255/35 R19, which I thought was pretty good.
