Not sure if this is the right place to post this, however I’m experiencing a very annoying issue with my Honda Civic 1.8 Type S GT 2009 model.
I have owned the car for about 4 years now without a single fault, however for the last 6 or so months the car keeps creaking, clunking and making all sorts of weird noises when driven for the first 10 or so minutes after leaving it parked for a good few hours e.g. overnight. The creaking noises are the worst/loudest when I’m turning right.
However once you drive the car for around 10 mins the noises stop…
I have took the car to a mechanic who had it for 3 days and said he’s fully checked the car over and cannot find a fault with it (this is a local trusted mechanic who I have known for more than 8 years now and he didn’t even charge me for checking it over).
Has anyone got any idea of what could be causing the car to creak/knock for the first few mins of driving like I mentioned above the noises are the worst when turning right and also when pulling off a curb etc.

The car has had new shock absorbers all round within the last 12 months.

Any help would be appreciated as I’m actually considering selling the car as I can’t stand these noises and don’t know where to even start to resolve the issue.

Sounds like suspension top mounts.

Although any half decent mechanic would have noticed this when changing struts / shocks I would have thought.

I appreciate your reply mate, I think I’ll get the car booked into a different garage and let them take a look maybe I’ve been putting too much trust in the one mechanic I’ve been using for years now.

Is there any way I could check my self if there’s anything wrong with the top mounts before I get it booked in?
Thanks.

Top mounts are common on these if my daughter's cars are anything to go by.

Relative easy to do at the front. Open bonnet, put a hand on top of the mount and then get someone to rock the car briskly.

If it's worn, you'll feel it.
