Hi All,

Probably a bit naive but as the subject says - is there any way to replace or fit suspension dust covers without unbolting everything?

Online suggests no but I thought I'd check with the experts!

If your shock absorbers aren't attached at both ends, they won't work very well. So, no.

What do you mean by dust cover? Why would they need replacing?

The Kirkey coilover covers I use are designed to slide on from the end, but only needed a pair of scissors and some velcro to adapt them so they could be fitted and removed without disturbing anything.

Dust covers have deteriorated badly so had advisory to replace during MOT.

Just seems annoying that there is a good amount of labour cost for a part that is in fact quite cheap (if not replacing the entire strut that is)

You could cut a slit in them and use superglue to reconstruct in place, might not last forever, but if they're currently very ratty, it'd still be an improvement.

Or wait for it all to fail and then replace everything!

They aren't needed for the not so if they get very loose cut them off and run the car until the shocks start to leak then replace the whole lot
