Hi,
looking for 14" steel wheels to replace 15" aluminium alloy wheels on a Mk VI Fiesta and noticed that for 175/65R14 tyres there is an even mix of these wheel/tyre combinations marked with "80kph" limit stickers and those without.

I could understand the speed limit for the narrow space-saver spares but why would it apply to a "standard" sized wheel?

Your post intrigued me as I have never seen that before, so I have just looked on "tyreleader", "asda tyres", "camskill" and "tyres on the drive" and can't see anything like you say, can you post more details or a link?

Some may have been used as space savers for cars with bigger alloys like st's. When selling spare wheel kits at ford that was the tyre size we used for the space saver rim.

Could be the rolling circumference is different to the wheels fitted to the car, or, tyre width is different.

The search is for 14" Steel wheels for a Mk Vi Fiesta as here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_t...

MustangGT As far as I can tell the 175/65R14 is an alternative to the 195/50R15 wheel it has at the moment.

VW_99 could be - and happens the vendor has advertised them as suitable for this application.
Some wheels in the search are obviously space-savers.

There you go, the 14" option is 2cm narrower and 1.23% larger rolling circumference. There will be different levels of grip and also different ride compliance.

post exactly what you are referring to

If it is this, quite clearly this is a space saver spare wheel, so obviously has reduced operating.

If the 2 tyres on the same 'axle' are not the same size in wheel diameter, tread width & profile then the car is legally limited to 80kpmh (50mph).

My mistake, I was just looking for tyres of the size you mentioned.

You need to buy the wheel separately by the looks of it to get the right ones & then just buy the tyres.

Here is a wheel / tyre with the limiting speed decal:

Here is one without:

I'm pretty sure that size is one of the options on the tyre pressure decal on the LH front door sill.

Base spec Fiestas had the 14" rims as standard so they didn't have the sticker, all the other models came with the same 14" steel wheel as the spare with the sticker. If you have different wheels as standard on your car then regardless of whether the wheel has a sticker or not it'll be limited to 50mph when in use. Also some models had different wheel nuts to use with the spare steel wheel as some alloy designs used a different taper.

Thank you - that all makes sense now.
