Michelin Cross Climates
Discussion
I fitted these to a LWB Vauxhall Movanna van and I'm not very impressed with them
I slid around like an ice puck today and I know its only a van but they are no better than van tyres
What are the views of people that have used them on cars I am thinking that winter tyres are cheaper but I had these as much of the work is long distance.

They are really good but not infallible.
There's a video showing crossclimates vs summer vs winters here for you.

My personal experience is that having widest summers you can for the majority of roads right now is still fine as I'm doing well on 245/40/17 Square Goodyear asm 6 despite - 3 to - 4c weather.
If its wet or snowy or icy all bets are off though.

No all season or winter tyre will drive well at all on icy roads...I slid around like an ice puck today and I know its only a van but they are no better than van tyres

What they do best is when it's cold, lots of water/standing water and moderate snow etc
Never had any issues with winters or all seasons over UK winters; but this winter so far, has been so cold and icy, the Goodyear Vector Gen 3 tyres I had fitted didn't get great traction on the frozen roads...
It's all about taking it as slowly and easy as possible...
I've had them on three different cars now - one rear wheel drive and two front wheel drives.
They're great tyres, but do have limits - while I can drive in sport mode in sub zero temperatures, a bit too much throttle can still spin them.
For me, pre dawn starts mean it's mostly the cold I have to deal with.
Ice defeats most things unless you have studded tyres, which aren't allowed in the UK.
Just recently with the several days of very cold temperatures down to minus 7.5 here, there is ice about. Even with the crossclimates you can feel the lack of traction in places.

I think any tyre that doesn't have ice studs will not do well in ice. The rubber on winter tyres works better when the temp drops than most everyday tyres that cars come fitted with. Nowadays, the wide tyres we have as standard don't help on snowy conditions, narrow tyres are best as they allow the tyres to sink into the snow and find solid ground for grip. See a WRC rally car for this, their tyres look like they are a 155 width tread.
Am I being thick here, but are Cross Climates rated for commercial use? I know you get Agilas Cross Climates for and but they're not the same as Cross Climates for a car. But regardless, have them on my car and I echo what's been said, they have their limitations... ie, ice. Aside for that, they're rather good. Maybe need to adjust your expectations accordingly. And check you've actually fitted commercial rated tyres.
