Selling my car - Tyre query
Discussion
So, my tyres need replacing on the car i am selling. Sytner BMW are willing to buy but are trying to say they need to shave the price down by £1k given the cost of the tyres.
How accurate is that really? Would such a big company actually do that, would they have spare 21s kicking around ready to roll, would they just have partial 21s they could use to replace instead and flog at an inflated cost?
Just trying to understand if i should stick to my guns on my valuation or not, are they just trying their luck to drive down the value?

What size tyres are they?
Would they give you the money you want if the car was on 4 fresh tyres?
21s (M Sport upgrade). They said if they had the depth they'd pay what i want (around 4mm is required to re-sell in UK). Unfortunately whilst still legal, mine are a shade under 3m so you cannot resell. Would they give you the money you want if the car was on 4 fresh tyres?
So i could replace all four tyres for non RFTs for £5-600. Ultimately that's not my concern though, my issue is more, how serious is the need to do this with such a large Car group? Why should i spend anything to replace the tyres, and take a net differential under my asking price when surely a group as big as Sytner has the ability to source and replace easily enough?

What they "can" and what they "will" do aren't necessarily the same thing. You don't have to spend anything on replacing the tyres, and they don't have to meet your asking price unless you do.Perhaps you could suggest they meet you in the middle and see what they say.

Well, that's their offer. If someone else will offer more, sell it to them instead.
