Ground clearance - EU regulations
Discussion
Hi, thanks for your interest.
I am trying to get the developer to reduce the slope to 16% which was what was specified in the development plan. The slope is currently 56% with a kerb height of 130mm.
Sadly we live in a world of SUVs, but I also own a Boxster which has little chance of not being damaged.

I have no specific knowledge of the Spanish planning system but shouldn't you go to through planning system and tell them that something hasn't been built in accordance with the plans.I am trying to get the developer to reduce the slope to 16% which was what was specified in the development plan. Therein lies the problem. It should be covered by EU regulation, but something that does not comply has been approved for use, thus rendering my garage spaces unusable.
The EU Regulation is for a 16% slope from the kerb, cars seem to be deigned for a 10deg slope from wheel centre to underside of bumper, so the two are compatible.
However kerbs are described at no more than 120mm high but I cannot find a minimum regulation for ground clearance.
Hence my question.

My Spanish developer has installed concrete ramps at the vehicle crossing to my garage that cause my Alfa-Romeo Giulietta to ground both behind the front wheel and the holomogated tow bar. The kerb is 130mm high, but the problem is the ramp is only 350mm long, so a 37% slope.
Does anyone know if there is a minimum ground clearance regulation and what it might be for a M1 class of vehicle?
From my research a manufacturer only has to state what ground clearance has been provided, together with the approach angle.
Thanks for any advice.
You should be looking at the regulations for any ramps built.Does anyone know if there is a minimum ground clearance regulation and what it might be for a M1 class of vehicle?

I have done that and know it is wrong. I am a retired Civil Engineer. To complete my claim, I simply wish to know if there is an EU Regulation for minimum ground clearance for M1 vehicles. I suspect that there is not.

Eh?
A 16% slope climbs 160mm in 1m; coincidentally so does a 10deg slope. Its a fairly simple calculation. ??
(I know the maths, but thank you any way.

I was looking through the EU regulations to try and help: I have stopped now.

In Spanish law if your claim against the developer is less than €8000 then you cannot recover your costs and so you might as well pay-up yourself.
To reiterated, I am seeking advice from someone who may be involved in vehicle Type approvals who is able to confirm if there is an EU regulation for the minimum ground clearance of an M1 vehicle.
I am not seeking opinion on issues that I have already established.

Also, you don't "know the maths", you weren't "looking through the EU regulations", you were at no point trying to help. You're just another of those pointless PH posters that pops up trying to be a smartarse to score internet points on every thread. Why don't you just p

The ‘Eh?’ Related to you saying 16% & 10% are compatible. Show your workings!

I think you will find he said 16 deg = 10%.(I know the maths, but thank you any way.
