Vauxhaul Corsa Advisory
Discussion
My 2013 Vauxhall Corsa 37000k on the clock has passed it's MOT but with an advisory which said.
"Service brake imbalance requirements only just met. It would appear that the braking system requires adjustment or repair. front @26% (1.2.1(b)(i)
It had a service last year with new brake pads, It has been braking fine with no pulling to left or right when braking, I asked when I picked up the car what could be the problem, She looked at the miles I had done since last MOT 3,500 miles and she said maybe because it's not been used that much.
Does this sound right
Thanks in advance

Sometimes it feels like the mechanic just likes to add something to the report. If it drives fine and doesn't pull then I wouldn't give it a second thought to be honest.
If you notice any changes, take it in for a check but otherwise, just enjoy the drive. Also, as said above, it is unlikely that brake balance is anything to do with the miles you have done.

I carry out brake tests daily on proper MOT equipment.
It is almost certainly a pad getting a bit sticky where it moves in the caliper, possibly through low use. Dont go changing any parts, greasing or chasing this down, if you can safely do a few hard stops from 20mph with no other vehicles around this will almost certainly remedy your problem by clearing the rust.

Cheers Decky-Q... I did this yesterday, Hard braking a couple of times all seems normal, I only travel around 60 miles a week to work and back, I don't use my brakes that often but gears to slow down, I'm no boy racer, I take my time...obviously brake where I have too...should I be using my brakes more often than gears? It is almost certainly a pad getting a bit sticky where it moves in the caliper, possibly through low use. Better to find an open and clear stretch and brake hard from 60 down to 20. Don’t come to a stop, you are too exposed. It is almost certainly a pad getting a bit sticky where it moves in the caliper, possibly through low use. Common fault on corsas is the abs module goes tits up and it's usually the nearside front that slowly gets less effective on braking. May well be yours is showing the early signs of failing.
Yep, it's highly likely to be the be early signs of the ABS pump failing. Very common problem and can be rebuilt. See here for more info.Edited by lancer778544 on Tuesday 14th December 16:31
