Hi all,

I have a ~1600kg car that tows a twin axle trailer of ~1500kg. I am thinking of fitting coilovers. They state to have "Maximum Axle Load over 1080kg on the Front and 1165kg max on the Rear".

Will that be ok?

Your axle won't be further loaded significantly further by towing.

Pretty much all of the weight of a twin axle trailer is front to rear, not up & down.

I do ask the question though what car would you want to put coilovers on & then tow with?

Good question. When not towing I like to hoon about a bit in it. It's a daily as well as an occasional tow car,

The coilovers are said to give a better ride than OEM suspension as well as improved handling.

Many make such claim, and are usually lies.

A better ride rarely goes hand in hand with better handling. And better handling and better roadholding etc are not the same either.

But nose weight on most towbars usually have a max of 100kg, some just 50kg. So based on that there should be insignificant loading on a tow vehicle in that regard, even if most do load them far beyond that
