Getting a Trailer tyre inflated from flat
Discussion
Got a trailer tyre from an erde 102 type halfords trailer, it's totally flat and the tyre is flapping about on the rim
How do I get it inflated, there's no inner tube and I assume I need to get the air in quicky which I can't do with my foot pump
Would compressing it with a ratchet help
Would spraying something flammable inside do it? Saw some Norwegians doing that when I worked there
The tyre was ok before some oik let it down being silly
Any suggestions welcome as I'm a numpty
And yes this is a spare tyre

The bead has "broken"? It's really come loose from contact, and the inside and outside are meeting?A ratchet strap or even some rope around the circumference might help - then take it to the petrol station's inflator if you don't have a compressor. Even a 12v ciggy-socket-buzzer might work, but I doubt it.
If the bead is OK, then a foot pump will work - but if you've got a bicycle "track pump" (standy-uppy-type), they're actually better than a ciggy-socket inflator. Anything that goes in bursts is going to struggle if the bead isn't sealing, though.
Ratchet strap. If its leaking from one specific spot then carry on blowing the air in but gently tap the tyre on the floor by dropping the wheel on that leaking spot - should catch a seal that way within 2 / 3 bounces. If its leaking from lots of places ensure you have put some tyre soap on.
Last resort is trying lots of grease / flames etc...

20p at Tesco in the air machine?
Note: Other stores are available.
There's no inner tube don't think that'd workNote: Other stores are available.
The force of the air going in under high pressure should in theory be enough to force the side walls out to the point they will seal and thus the pressure will build and pop the beads home.
The issue is, if the tyre wont seal initially... then the air will rush out no matter what you do. So yes, in that case you'll need to try and manually force the sidewalls to contact the wheel and create a seal. A ratchet strap around it's citcumference should help.
I have had this very problem myself - and the icelandic way of flammable spray + lighter does work But you need to be running a compressor/ pumping a footpump on the valve at the same time or very soon afterwards

If you dont then once the initial sealing happens the air in the tyre cools, the tyre gets sucked back in and un- beads again.

1. Remove valve
2. Soapy water on the rim
3. Go to petrol station for decent air supply
4. With air blowing in, bump the tyre on the ground to see if it will seat correctly
5. Job done
If this doesn't work then either,
A. Stick a tube in it, if all you do with the trailer is run a short distance to the local tip.
Or
B. Take it to a proper tyre fitter.
