Triumph TR6 / Spitfire fuel cap

I have a Triumph Tr6 vented cap and it needs a new inside seal.
I see there is partnr 718738 and 725220. The one is a vented seal the other a non vented seal.
I still have a new non vented seal.

Can I use it on a my vented cap?
On the pictures a non vented and vented seal look exactly the same except from a small hole.

To be on the safe side put a slit into the seal so that it will vent if necessary.
