Hello, I have a Spitfire 1500 1977 I've just brought a new set of bulb holders from rimmer bros (link below). I've removed one of the indicator bulb holders and replaced with a new holder with the existing light bulb. Turned on my hazard lights and nothing happens, the front indicators work but nothing at the rear. I placed the old holder in and the indicator works.

Has anyone had this problem or know if I have to change something in the holder for it to work?

Thanks

Jason

The earthing in the bulb holders is garbage. to get round it I put a bit of wire between the earth connector to the bulb and the round clip thing which pushes into the tail lamp assembly to ensure the earth connection makes it to the bulb.

Don't the 'new' bulb holders have a seperate earth connector? Old ones just earthed through the prongy bits to the body, but new ones have a dedicated earth terminal don't they?

Yeah the new bulb holders had a seperate earth connection. Made an earth cable to the indicators now the hazards work fine but the indicators wont work both left and right nor will the stop lights. Need to find the faults, funny how its happen when fitting new bulb holders.

Sounds like it would be worth checking the top fuse (in the tiny fuse box behind the battery). This fuse connects a number of things (indicator, rev counter etc .... maybe brakelights too).

Even if it looks OK clean the contacts up which the fuse clips into. These do get crusty and break the contact.

Cheers for that, I've changed all the fuses and the indicators work now. I've got to replace the brake light switch as its damage, thanks for the help.

No worries.

The club Triumph forum is a winner for these things. I had a similar issue with top fuse about 5 years ago, posted a question on the CT forum and had the answer (and the problem fixed) within half an hour.

You don't need to be a member to use the forum.
