Looks quite solid though. Some Triumphs from that era seem to have been made from rot-proof steel. I once looked at a GT6 Mark 2 that had paint chipped off all over the place, but only the hint of surface rust. Wierd. Once you get the late 60s and especially the 70s they just rot before your eyes.

Was it brown by any chance? For some reason brown Triumphs seem to survive better than any other colour (though I still can't get my head around the original owner of my Spitfire, being one assumes a 20-something guy looking to cut a 1970's dash with a new sports car going "I'll have the brown one, please.").
It's been in that garage pictured for the last 27 years. Last taxed (found the disc on the floor) in 1979. Drivers side is the worst, needs a sill, floor and either complete rear wing or an arch repair. Boot floor is all solid, new bonnet in about 1983, replacement boot lid about the same time. The engine turns (by hand) so it's not seized. Chassis looks good so far, but we've not had a real good look at it yet.
Toby has set up a blog to document the restoration of his Spit. Feel free to wade in with any comments if you think they'll help him stay motivated and or get over the tricky bits.
