i TR6 Renovation
Discussion
Hi,
I have the oportunity to buy a 72 reg TR6, UK car, it has reasonable engine ( but on carbs), reasonable tub, boot doors and bonnet and chassis. Gearbox & diff need replacing, it needs a complete interior (inc dash panel) and roof (all of it). 4 wings wouldn't go amiss as the existing ones are 'glass. The screen surround has some corrosion in it and Rimmers list them not available. It is a sound base for a reasonable usable car but pricing the requirements on Rimmers I rapidly reach £4+k and that is without the unknown bits and pieces that cost little on their own but add up together. I seem to be able to get a decent 6 for around £6 or7K.
Haven't the available time & space to actually do the work at the moment so would have to put it into storage for a year.
It is fairly well known that it is cheaper to buy a finished car than restore one (been there and have the bills to prove it).
Is there any financial short cuts to make it a viable proposition or should I just forget it.
Cheers
Tony H
