Hi all. It's strange coming on this forum, I'm usually on the Monaro one! Anyway, here's my plea for guidance. I have just bought(in a moment of complete madness) a Mk2 Stag. It has the Borg Warner sorry excuse for a gearbox fitted(I detest autos but I couldn't get a decent manny for love nor money). I want to do a conversion and, not having twiddled the spanners for nearly 30 years, need some expert advice. 1) Do I need to lift the whole engine and box or can I just drop the box? 2) I read somewhere that a Toyota box fits without adaptation...is this true? 3)Where's the best place to get dummy shafts etc? 4)Are the "holes" already in the bulkhead for the 3rd pedal ? and, finally, 5) Do I need to change flywheels etc?
Thanks for any advise given it's greatly appreciated. If anyone is close by to my locale (Collingtree Village, Northampton) I'd love to meet up for an opinion of the car.

Best regards.......Dave

I'd try asking on either the Club Triumph Stag forum (non-members can register and use forums - http://club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/forum10/Blah.pl... or the Stag Owners Club (don't know if members only or not - http://stagownersclub.mywowbb.com/forum1/).

It's not the most active forum on Pistonheads, no smile

Couldn't face starting work this morning so...seems to be some good stuff on www.triumphstag.net
e.g. http://www.triumphstag.net/start/phorum/read.php?1...

Take the Auto to RobSport and part ex it against a M.O.D model, drive away in a Manual and save a lot of money compared to doing the conversion yourself.

I've got pretty much everything you need to convert an auto to a manual apart from the gearbox itself (I can put you in touch with someone who's selling one for £250) see under triumph parts in the spares section, or give me a call on 07802 463848
