TR6 itch needs scratching

I'm potentially in the market for a TR6. There's a fair few for sale, so want to be putting the money into something that has had plenty of cash already chucked at the expensive things like chassis, body etc. Ideally RHD and would prefer carbs over injectors, unless the injectors are fully sorted.

BRG and red are a bit cliched for my taste, but do like the look of Mimosa Yellow (yellow's my 9 yr old's favourite colour !) and want to get him involved in a bit of spannering. Any colour considered though if it's the right car.

Would appreciate some heads ups on what to look at. The trouble with cars with dealers is they don't know the history like a private seller and rarely keep the same kind of records/photos/invoices etc. They want a quick sale at an inflated price. I want a solid car, at a fair price to seller/buyer.

Paint doesn't need to be perfect, the odd dent or scratch are all part of the fun of ownership.

All sorted - a few days of research and watching the classifieds and I have put down a deposit on a very nice Sapphire Blue, which has had everything done, meticulously maintained and wants fot nothing.

You will not be disappointed they sound great and a lot of fun to drive, but you should have hung on till you could get hold of the best colour Mimosa like mine

When parked in a normal sized parking bay that’s about right but granted it does look to small, I thinks because of the distance. Here’s mine next to my old 5 series touring

Nope, that's what it looks like parked next to two American vehicles, and the Buick century is considered a mid size.

Driving back, I took the highway for 3 exists and it was terrifying.

I'm actually thinking about selling mine. I think I've wrung every last bit of enjoyment out of TR ownership. Same with the Quattro. Both wonderful cars, but I fancy a change.

I bought mine just over a year ago and really love it, a complete contrast to the TVR, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. BTW you've bought the best colour ????

Thanks RAS - yours does look good. Mine got covered in road grime, as it chucked it down on the way back. I then tucked it away in the garage and am in the process of sorting out a few niggle jobs. I probably driven it 15 yards so far, but loving every minute of getting stuck in.

Itch scratched after 30 years a fortnight ago today.

After 21 years, 3 trips all over Ireland, a Rallye from Spa - Florence, a trip over the Alps to Rome and back, with the epic 2005 3,400 mile drive across the USA from Houston to San Francisco, several years in Sydney, an uncountable number of blats all over the U.K. (especially Cornwall) and 2 international shipping trips via the Suez and Panama canals our Caterham SV was part-ex’d for a very well sorted 1973 150Bhp Triumph TR-6. The time was right for a replacement after many years of great memories and hopefully the new owners will love it as much as we did.

A close Friend saw it last night whilst visiting and agreed it is a stunner. It had a full body off restoration 8 years ago and every line/gap is dead on correct.

Well done OP - you won't regret it. These are so inexpensive to buy for the value they offer.

The fuel injection is fun to learn to play with and nothing is difficult to fix on these cars.
