Racing Spits memories

Back in 1969, I remember seeing the two famous "plastic" Spitfires of the Cox-LLoyd-Marshall Gold Seal Racing in the Mugello Grand Prix road race. The surviving one is currently being restored at Canley Classics.
The following year, 1970, a similar Spit was raced in the Grand Prix by Nick Amey, also in the 1000cc class.
At the time I thought the car could probably be one of two cars from the previous year, now red with a blue longitudinal stripe. Could someone confirm whether Nick Amey Spit was really one of the ex Gold Seal Racing Spits or a different car and, if so, give some information about it.
