TR6 Tyres - Advice Please
Discussion
Morning all,
I've done a search but the last thread on this was nearly 10 years ago and for a different size.
My TR6 sailed through it's MOT (TÜV) yesterday but did have one rather strong advisory, seeing as the tyres are 25 years old it was hardly surprising
It's a US spec. car so running on 185HR15.
The only real contender in that size over here in Germany is the Vredestein Sprint Classic, but at 250€ per corner it's not cheap.
Any other recommendations of tyre or places to buy in the UK, I can easily get them brought over.

Those black circles ones are van tyres and have a high load rating, I would think the ride would be adversely affected with those.
How about these?:

Or these which actually mention US spec TR6 :

Those Blockley's look okay, never heard of them though and they're only slightly less than the Vredestein, which I've now found at 200€ per corner. How about these?:

Bloody hell, these are cheap and appear to be car tyres.

They do have the car load rating https://reifen.pkwteile.de/federal-6941995637069-1...
Not listed on the UK site so I hope they fit a UK car
Edit: They are on the UK site (although out of stock) but at £265 each

Do you have the option to use 195/65 15s??
Not sure what profile the standard 185 is, but assuming it's a '70', then a 195/65 should have roughly the same diameter. I had to do this with a 944 - the fronts should have been 185/70/15, but there was nothing decent in that size, whereas 195/65/15 gave me loads of options.

I've got 195/65s on at the moment. I know that's technically correct WRT rolling radius etc but I think they make the car *look* a bit under-tyred. Might be just the tyres, but I think I'll try 195/70 next time. The guys in the US seem to run quite 'big' profile tyres. Not sure what profile the standard 185 is, but assuming it's a '70', then a 195/65 should have roughly the same diameter. I know this will probably be frowned upon, but I canceled the Vredesteins and ordered some ying yang ditch finders, they're on now and are really good.
The way I look at it is that the tyres I've been running were 25 years old so not exactly 'safe' anyway, and I only take the TR6 out for weekend jaunts and these don't involve going mad and drifting around the local roads. I also never go out in the wet.
Radar Dimax Classic 185/80/15. They're basically a copy of the original tyres and at 60€ per corner cheap as chips. They have a nice 'classic' branding on the sidewall and first impressions are that they are perfectly good for a classic car.
I'm bloody glad I had them all changed as when the guy did it he found that the front right didn't have an inner tube, all the others did!

Interested in how you get on with these, please post a pic when they're on the TR The way I look at it is that the tyres I've been running were 25 years old so not exactly 'safe' anyway, and I only take the TR6 out for weekend jaunts and these don't involve going mad and drifting around the local roads. They're on and look spot on I'll take a picture at the weekend unless it rains.Another way of looking at it is if they were a normal size they'd be the same price per corner as a Kuhmo or a Continental, and I'm not paying four times more for a name just because they're an oddball size.
