New record sale price for a Tr5 ?
Discussion
Watched (online) an unfinished Tr5 restoration sell at auction today for £62200 . That’s good enough but buyers fees at 15% made it £71530 . Then the whole lot was liable for vat making the total an eye watering £86k .
The car looked exceptional, steel engine, and all the expensive bits done but still another £5 - £10 k to go I reckon .
Is this a sign of things to come ??
Hope so because I’ve recently invested in one , albeit with a much lower price tag .
Is this the highest priced Triumph ever ?

I'm sure the VAT is only added to the 15% fees not the car.?G600 said:
Let's hope not, triumphs are usually affordable classics that get driven, not investments that sit locked away
Yeh , fair point but they can still be driven and used , certainly 5’s are up into Etype money now but a much simpler car and easier to work on , maybe that is part of the attraction. Definitely intend using mine !
