Morning,

So while I try to sort my SU fuelling issue, I got to thinking about the alternative strategy of fitting a Dellorto 40 that I've had in a box since sometime in the '90s.

Manifolds are cheaper than I thought but I don't know anything about setting these carbs up. I have no idea what car this carb had been on. Presumably I would have to change some components on the carb and then get the necessary linkages?

Anyone out there running this setup?

Al.

unless you have had tuning/porting work done on the head and better flowing exhaust/intake manifolds fitted I wouldn't bother, you may get a marginal increase in performance but fuel consumption will probably suffer.
the main limiting factor on the old series 2 valve triumph heads 4 or 6 cyl is the exhaust valve and port.
for a standard engine matched manifolds to head along with su's and freeflowing airfilters in a cold air feed box can work quite well.

OK, ta.

I have managed to get my car running well on its SUs so I'll stick with them. My head is standard but I have a 4- branch manifold and K&Ns. I'll probably upgrade to a performance head at some point (mine isn't even converted to unleaded) and can revisit the DCOE idea then.

Cheers,

Al.
