Sticking throttle on Herald 13/60 help please
Discussion
See photo attached, the bar that holds the end of the throttle cable seem to mount under the inlet manifold, it is very loose, but seems like it's been that way for a while as rusted, am I missing a bracket? Or would it fit to the exhaust manifold too, as there is a stainless one fitted, but problem with sticking only just started.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Brett

Brett,
That's not the original arrangement. You have a spiffing tubular exhaust manifold, and that threaded hole in the intake manifold held a stud, that bolted it to the original exhaust manifold. Some one has used it to hold a DiY (?) bracket for the throttle cable.
Have a look at the Canley Classics site at the diagrams of the manifiolds https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-herald-13/6... and the throttle cable https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-herald-13/6... to see what I mean .
Don't worry, after forty years no Triumph is original, except in the hands of obsessives. That bolt in the intake manifold will be really hard to remove, steel in alloy usually is. You could cut the head off, use a tap to cut a thread in the shank, and add a nut to hold your DiY bracket, or make up another bracket, or work out how the original one was fixed. The CC diagram looks as if it went the other way, but I don't have a 13/60 so can't tell you.
Maybe someone with one will come along and say. There are plenty of Triumpheroes here, but many, many more on the specialist Triumph sites, TSSC, Club Triumph or Sideways Technologies.
Good luck!

Even topper will be to go along to your local group meeting of one of the clubs I suggested
If you contact the Group organiser in advance they might even be able to bring along a 13/60 owner to advise and compare with.
You should, of course then join that Club!
Message boards are great, but nothing compared with direct contact!
