Triumph Stag tacho problem with lumenition ignition

Good afternoon, I have a 1972 stag, just bought it to renovate, with lumenition ignition fitted, but the rev counter, a Smith's RVC unit, read's double what it should, eg. 2,000 rpm at idle. Can anyone throw any light on this please. Thank's in advance

With a MK1 stag an electronic ignition will send the rev counter skewiff
