Thanks all for your comments on making it reliable . Some good stuff.

Next thing is seats, they are shot!

Have stripped them down to the frames so need new foam and covers but really don't want to do it myself . Any ideas who could do them. I'm on Sussex/ Hants border.

Car was ziebarted from new 1974 and it's amazing how ripest free and solid it is.

Thanks

Can't recommend anyone down that way but it's not too hard a job to tackle yourself.

Get new foams and, if necessary covers. Both are just 2-piece (seat and back), just lay a piece of polythene over the foam so the opening's one the same edge as the opening in the cover, then put on the frame and pull the cover over.

My '72 GT6 was ziebarted from new and is also pretty much rust free and original. But it only has had 2 owners and the las one since '86 before I bought it and he always kept it inside and never used it in the winter.

Having seen how quickly and how badly my Triumphs rotted in the 70s and 80s when used through the winter my guess is that your Spitfire, if it is pretty solid has also been kept off the british salt mines in the winter.

I was always a bit sceptical of BLs ziebarting when it came out but having seen a few old Triumphs recently that are still in good original condition then it must have done some good.
