MK3 GT6 Restoration blog
Discussion
I'm now working on the GT6 again!. the original blog has expired so will use this site to post pics and updates. here are a few pics as the strip down is at the moment. Will update with detail as I go along.
The car is in pretty good shape for a full restoration much better than the last one I did!!. Car was MOT'd and on the road when I bought it. If you look at my profile you can see how it was before I began the full restoration
Car will be for sale when finished.

Bonnet support was fastened by an Alan screw that I didn't have an Alan key to fit at the time.
Anyway engine is ready for anscillaries putting on. The last owner stated the engine had been rebuilt so I only removed the head to check and see it had an unleaded head which it does. All looks fine so put head back on and pressure tested and again all good. Some more pics.
The exhaust is the Phoenix performance st. Steel. I bought it second hand but it has never been fitted before.
This restoration will not be all original, I will be upgrading suspension and trying to remove unsprung weight. The water pump housing is the canley classics aluminium one. I will also be ditching the trunnions for their trunnion less design along with aluminium front hubs.
I have the old carbon steel performance exhaust if anyone interested. Just needs wire brushing and paint.

Just a bit of history regarding the car. It has had a restoration done prior to me purchasing the car but it was done poorly. Lots of bodges and wiring had been hacked in so many places it didn't resemble anything like original.
As far as I can tell all the body panels are original. I doubt the bonnet is the original because it looks like the car has had a frontal crash in its past as the chassis has had a new section welded in place. This has been done well as all the dimensions are spot on its just the welding is a bit poor but will make this look better once the body is off. The rest of the chassis is perfect with very little rust or jacking marks. This will require no welding.
Car as collected:-
