Triumph Dolomite advice

My daughter who is 17 and learning to drive would like a Triumph Dolomite when she passes her test. I'd be grateful for any for or against feedback of this idea.
I'd be especially grateful for comments regarding insuring a 17 year old.
Does anybody know what insurance group Dolomites fall into?

TSSC have a panel of insurance providers and one of their stipulations is that they must offer insurance to young drivers at a realistic rate to be on the panel. Some members have had issues but HQ have always stepped in to help and there's been a satisfactory outcome to all the ones I've heard about.
I had a Dolomite Sprint as my 1st car back in the day. I reversed it out of the apex of a corner at about 70mph, over a ditch, through a hedge and about 50 yards into a ploughed field. It rolled 2.5 times in the process and stood up remarkably well - I walked away with nothing other than critically injured pride.
I would strongly suggest that you confine your search to the smaller engined variants and put a couple of paving slabs in the boot to aid rear-end traction!

Dolomite 1300, pedestrian.
Dolomite 1500, far superior, should be OK on insurance, keep a careful eye on rattly big ends.
(Note 1500 engine is simply a stroked 1300).
Dolomite 1850, reasonable performance from slant 4 engine.
Dolomite Sprint, looks like other Dolomites, similar engine to 1850. Gearbox and back axle based on Triumph 2000 rather than Vitesse/GT6 early TR7. Goes well.
Rust is the killer - possibly brown cars survive better due to paint pigmentation - could be an old wives tale.

I wouldhave thought a 1500 dolly would e a great starter classic. More road presence than something like a Mini or Imp, good club scene, plentiful parts supply and a proper 4 seater for taking friends on days out (Maybe get seatbelts fitted properly in the back) and away you go.
