Hi,
I am selling a car for a a friend who lost his father, it was his fathers car.
Nothing Exciting a Skoda Felicia estate, I have been offered a TR7 for it.
all I know so far is that it looks tidy from photo's, 2litre hard top, black on a V plate.
What should I check for apart from the usual used car things?
Anything TR7 specific?
Cheers

Hi
Rust is probably going to be your biggest problem, get a good magnet to check for previous repairs around wheel arches and sills. Lift the carpets and check out the footwell and where the floor pan meets the sills. If you can get underneath check out the mounting points for the rear suspension. Bottoms of doors are also another common area for rust and around the front windscreen.
Engines can have head gasket problems which is often down to poorly maintained cooling system so check the coolant etc.
It depends on what you're planning to do with the car but there are plenty of parts available from people like robsport, rimmers and s&m preparations. Check eBay for what the cars are selling for, you might see them listed for all kinds of crazy prices but have a look which ones are actually selling and you'll see they still aren't worth much apart from some of the very good v8 conversions.
The cars can be good fun if sorted but as with any car of this age it's going to require some work, believe me!
