ok my GT6 is no offically off the road and I'm trying to decide wheter to let it go someone else or to attempt to bring it back to life.
Im capable of following instructions, but to be honest I don't know where to start when it comes to the 6.
I know where I'd like to end up, just don't know how to get there !

I've looked for Resto type clubs and not found anything local, for what ever reason I could get on with the Triumph clubs, didn't seem to match the clique I guess. So thought I'd try here for a final chance !

It's a shame you're so far away or I'd be very happy to provide advice, having restored a GT6 and hoping to do another one day. There might be a book dedicated to this very subject, but I looked and can't find one.

Do you have quite a big workshop? That is IMO the defining factor in how you go about this project.

No books?
"Guide to purchase & DiY Restoration ASpitfire/GT6/Vitesse/Herald" by Porter & Williams, Pub.Haynes.
The small chassis Triumphs are so similar in their basics that this book can cover them all.
If you want to be a Concourser, the John Thomason's "Guide to Originality; T.Spitfire & GT6", Pub.Crowood.

What's needed to "Bring it back to life"? Why is it SORNed? Major corrosion issues?
A joy of the GT6 is that, unless weakend by rot, the whole body can come off to let you tackle chassis problems like that. Many have built their own "rotisseries" to make body repairs a stand-up job.

Just to say I hope you find what you were looking for. smile Would it be possible for you to get the body done by a specialist and you do the rest required?

The car (and I) are in Swindon if that helps ?
I've got a double garage tpye space to work on it .. so that shouldn't be an issue.
to answer the other questions ... simply I just don't know where to start ! The rear arch has started to rust.

I've been thinking about it for a while now, and what I would like to achieve is :

1) Decent Body Work - in new modern colour ( I've an idea to spray it to match a Triumph motorbike colour)
2) The interior to be restored. At the moment I have a rotten dash, no head lining etc etc.
3) Power Steering mod ( injured my shoulder a while back)

Cheers
Paul

I had never restored a car before but did this one. I did everything except final paint. If you need any advice you can contact me. I got a book on welding and one for restoring triumphs. It took me 2 1/2 years. it cost me in total £4500 to do including the purchase price of the car.

Lovely. Nice to see that mine isn't the only TR6 which doubles up as 'table'.
