I have a 1966 TR4a and want to convert it to run on unleaded. Has anyone on this forum ever done this? I was looking at re machining the head and messing with the timing, but this could be expensive.

Do these devices work as a matter of interest, seems too good to be true.

Thanks

Ohhhh.............this old pony again. Most people just run unleaded and only replace valves and seats if valve seat recession rear's it's ugly head. Maybe use some additive if your doing a long run. leave the timing alone unless it "pinks".

Thanks for that, I was thinking of just using unleaded and seeing what happens. If the only damage this does is valve seat recession I have really have nothing to lose, as the seats would have to be replaced anyway.

Is there any other harm full effect that unleaded fuel creates?

Thanks for your quick response.

Just valve seats. I use the higher octaine unleaded, I'm not sure it's any better but I don't do many miles so not too expensive. You can still get 4 star leaded at some garages a google search should bring up some local places.

stick it in the tank, drive it, enjoy it, check your rocker clearances every couple of thousand miles.
